Melissa Etheridge and her ex-partner, Julie Cypher's son, Beckett Cypher has died at age 21. He was born in November 1998, via artificial insemination. On May 13, 2020, Melissa mourned her son by sharing a heartfelt message on social media:
Today I joined the hundreds of thousands of families who have lost loved ones to opioid addiction. My son Beckett, who was just 21, struggled to overcome his addiction and finally succumbed to it today. He will be missed by those who loved him, his family and friends.
Melissa and Cypher were one of the first public lesbian celebrity couples. Besides, Beckett, they raised another child, a daughter named Bailey Jean (b: February 1997). After some time, the couple revealed that the musician, David Crosby donated his sperm, and he is the biological father of both kids. Melissa and her ex filmmaker partner, Julie, separated in 2000.
The 58-year-old singer and songwriter has faced a tragic moment amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Melissa had been performing daily musical acts from her home. In her posts, she wrote: "I am grateful for those who have reached out with condolences, and I feel their love and sincere grief. I will sing again soon. It has always healed me."
Etheridge has twins named, Johnnie Rose Etheridge and Miller Steven Etheridge with her ex-partner, Tammy Lynn Michaels. They began dating in 2002 but separated in 2010. At present, Melissa is married to TV executive Linda Wallem.
